Chris comes to BCC with over 26 years of experience in Risk Engineering, Construction Project Management, Engineering, and Design. He is knowledgeable in the areas of SDI claim services, design-build, negotiated and hard bid construction projects, project management, scheduling, project controls, and construction project budget controls. His education includes an Associate of Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science in Technology and a Master of Industrial Technology from Bowling Green State University, and a MBA from Franklin University. Additionally, Chris is a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS).

Prior to joining the BCC team, Chris was a Risk Engineer with a global insurance carrier, providing risk engineering and SDI claim services to ENR Top GCs, assisting in loss reduction and increasing profitability at both the project and corporate levels. Chris resides in Ohio where he will work remotely.

In his role at BCC, Chris will be responsible for providing construction claims consulting and forensic delay analysis for projects of all types and industries for BCC’s current and future clients. We are confident that Chris’ strategic thinking and attention to detail will be a great addition to the BCC team as we continue to be a leading provider of SDI consultative services for the construction and insurance industries.

The Spring issue highlighted entrepreneurship in engineering in the Greater Pittsburgh area. In the article successes, failures, and lessons learned in starting, and growing our firm were shared.

At our company’s inception, BCC had one employee, but we have grown steadily over the years. With that growth, we found it necessary to develop policies, and procedures to manage the quality, and consistency of our work. We also had to learn to balance outgoing work while managing daily overhead tasks that are typically delegated to Human Resources, Accounting, IT, etc. For our small business this was a large hurdle to overcome. However, we are continually looking at ways to improve and streamline these processes, to operate with a lean mindset. Our greatest success has been our ability to structure our firm to function in a teleworking capacity, allowing employees to maintain a life-work balance, and still accomplish tasks/workload.

With consultants a dime a dozen in the construction industry, Tim’s advice for anyone contemplating starting a similar business is to set yourself apart by offering the highest level of customer service, competitive pricing, superior knowledge, and professionalism. BCC is a success because Tim has surrounded himself with a team of hard working well qualified professionals. Therefore, he believes that building a strong team is critical for the success of any entrepreneurial endeavor.

BCC employees Murat Kilic, PSP, Lindsay Macioce, EIT, PSP, and Jarod Copeland, PE, PSP, attended this year’s annual meeting which covered topics including half-step scheduling, performing a forensic delay analysis when contemporaneous schedule updates are missing, and trends in construction technology, and the relative impact on construction claims.

AACE provides information on total cost management in the construction and engineering industries in a variety of areas including project management, estimating, planning, scheduling, cost engineering, decision, and risk management, earned value, and claims, and disputes. AACE has been certifying cost engineering, and cost management professionals since 1976. It is an invaluable resource to cost management professionals across the globe.

BCC Employees Gather for Annual Company Holiday Party News [...] http://brashearconsulting.com/news-insights/30 http://brashearconsulting.com/news-insights/30 Thu, 01 Mar 2018 00:00:00 EST PITTSBURGH, PA - BCC employees and their spouses celebrated the holiday season late this year on Saturday, January 13th, at the Annual Company Holiday Party in Pittsburgh, PA. In a more recent tradition, the event was held after the holiday season so that employees could spend more time together with their families and avoid travel around the holidays.

The BCC team is comprised of professionals with offices along the East Coast, and the Annual Company Holiday Party provides a wonderful opportunity for the team to gather in one location and celebrate the successes of the past year. It is also an opportunity for our new employees to meet and greet the rest of the team in a casual environment outside of the workplace.

The party was held at Eddie Merlot’s in Downtown Pittsburgh. The evening began with an array of appetizers and cocktails followed by a tasty dinner and a dessert bar. Following the formal dinner, the employees and guests participated in a lively series of games and friendly team building competitions. The team competition to build a princess castle out of the 250+ piece assembly kit within 8 minutes was a big hit and yielded some unique and creative castles. The winners received raffle tickets for chances to win tickets to sporting events, round trip airline tickets, and gift certificates.

This celebration brings to a close our 10th year as a firm, and we look forward to many more years to come!

To celebrate our 10-year anniversary, BCC designated $1,000 for each employee to donate to a charity of  his or her choice.  Each employee selected a charity that he or she was in some way connected to or supported personally.  Charities that benefited from our give-back celebration included local animal protection organizations, local cultural and religious centers and charities, women’s rights advocacy centers, children’s hospitals and charities, and local school districts.

BCC recognizes that its 10-year success was made possible by the hard work and dedication of our staff, and it seemed appropriate to share this success by supporting the philanthropic interest of our staff by giving back to our communities.

BCC was founded in 2007 by Timothy R. Brashear to provide a cost-effective solution to contractors and insurance companies across the country.

10 years later, Tim has compiled a team with 125+ years of combined dispute resolution, risk mitigation, consulting, contracting, engineering, and project management experience. Laura comes to BCC with over 6 years of experience in Project Scheduling, Estimating, and Engineering. She is knowledgeable in the areas of schedule tracking, resource loading, logistics planning, design, procurement, and optimization strategies. Laura is well-versed in the latest scheduling software, practices, and procedures, and has extensive knowledge of Primavera scheduling software. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a minor in Community and Health Psychology.

Prior to joining the BCC team, Laura was a Senior Engineer with Westinghouse Electric Company, working in project planning and implementation for nuclear reactor projects in the United States and China. Laura resides in Pennsylvania where she will work remotely.
In her role at BCC, Laura will be responsible for providing construction claims consulting and forensic delay analysis for projects of all types, and industries for BCC’s current and future clients.
